Many aspiring work-at-home entrepreneurs have a pretty good idea of what type of work they would consider to be fun. They have dreamed about it for a long time. It’s now just a matter of making the leap.
But there are others who only have a slight inkling or no idea at all. Where do they turn?
Well, What Do You Consider Fun?
Anyone running a home-based business will tell you it’s a lot of work. It often consumes you and every facet of your life. You end up working way more hours than if you’re working for someone else.
Now, does this sound like fun to you?
What, if anything, would you consider doing under these circumstances? What’s your idea of fun? A hobby may be fun in small doses, but could you do it 8 hours a day, seven days a week? Keep in mind, that’s probably not counting time for marketing, administration, and all the other stuff involved with running a business.
So what would still be fun considering all that?
That’s where you start from. Think about what you love, what you’re passionate about, what you loved as a kid, what you lose yourself in where time seems to fly by. These are clues to where to begin.
Doing work that’s fun and rewarding makes all of the effort worthwhile. Remember the old adage about all work and no play.

The administration required to turn a hobby or other interest into a business will often make the difference between an enjoyable activity and a tiresome one. As soon as you attach responsibility to it, you alter the activity at some level.
Fortunately, I have been able to turn at least one interest into a career so that’s a step in the right direction. However, there’s still a long road ahead before this turns into a business.
Robert – That’s very true. The work involved to turn a hobby into a thriving business is something that is often overlooked. Sometimes it’s worth it, and other times a hobby is more fun as a hobby.
