A Different Approach to Selling Content

Brain CapitalMy advertising post generated some great feedback, both in the comments and through email.

A few people missed the point entirely, but that’s going to happen. You can’t help everyone ;).

Some of you made some great observations, and many had questions. The most common question was “how to capitalize on your content and what you know, rather than going the ads route…”

Well, Since You Asked…

As many of you know, I’ve been working on a new project. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a few years now. Within that last year, I’ve become aware of what amounts to a perfect storm for people who are creative and have knowledge to sell.

The big question was how to do that effectively online, and how to build a business around it.

I decided to take a bunch of the things I’d learned and developed over the years as a consultant, coach, designer, and business owner and put them to work to answer that question. Then, I teamed up with Brian Clark of Copyblogger to make it a reality.

I can honestly say I’m more excited about this that any other project or venture I’ve ever launched. So it’s hard not to hype it too much.

There’s really too much to cover here, but we’re putting together a free report that will include everything. (Now, when I say “we” I mean Brian — he wrote it. But I did illustrate it, made it look nice, and suggested a few changes. Oh, and I’m recording the audio version).

We’re hoping to have it ready to go next week. So stay tuned…

  1. That’s a heckuva team. I can’t wait to see the end results.

Congrats and good luck…but you won’t need it 😉

  2. I think, I missed the point, as I found advertising as an easy route. But thanks that you have come to offer this valuable project.

    Eagerly waiting!!!

Please consider all geographic locations (or whatever possible) while doing this.

  3. Tony:

I’m VERY EXCITED about this report. The title says it all. Teaching is so much more “non-threatening” compared to say “Selling.” No one wants to feel like he’s being sold something. Most people are willing to be “taught” something instead.

Great team you got there – I like Brain over at Copyblogger – he’s great awesome info over there not to mention a very nice site – one that I had hoped to adopt as my new theme (he has a 2 column theme and I wanted a 3 column theme like his – oh well).

In any case, YOU GO BOY! Can’t wait to get the report.

  4. wow, you already teach us so, so well Tony, and now there will be more? You are lokomaika’i, of good heart. I will join the voices already here saying your launch is eagerly awaited!

  5. Tony – Brian scooped you on the report (Darren Rowse too!) They’ve released it to the wild…and it’s great.

I just finished reading it. Congrats man. You guys are going to have a great time with this, I’m sure of it.
